Kate Mueller is a Los Angeles based mixed media Artist.
Her works in photography are shot in old-school 35mm
film. Kate then collages the photo negatives to create her
surreal images.  The mashing and mixing of the
compositions are the result of physically cutting, stitching,
and scotch-taping the multiple negatives together,
resulting in an intangible landscape. Kate Began welding
in 2015, while working in sales at a custom furniture
gallery. Staying after hours with coworkers collaborating
on projects and learning in an apprenticeship style. The
ability to work on ambitious designs with no deadlines
offered the setting to hone her craft. Kate Mueller’s work
is informed by her fascination with architecture, her travels
(including a brief stint in a Romanian monastery), and her
desire to understand the time and culture in which she
lives. Often politically informed, Her work deals with the
sense of isolation, a fascination with structure, technology,
sentimentality, and the concept of individuality vs. conformity.
